Bulldog Swimming Volunteer Policy

At Bulldog Swimming, we believe that swimming offers invaluable experiences for our children—boosting confidence, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and teaching the importance of goal-setting and achievement. Swim meets are a vital part of this development. While team dues contribute to operational costs, hosting meets is critical to the team’s sustainability. We rely on the collective support of families to make each meet a success, ensuring a positive experience for all participants. Volunteering for these events is a key part of this effort.

Volunteer Responsibilities for Hosted Meets

• Meet Schedule:
  The meet schedule will be shared at the start of each season. Families will be notified when a meet opens for registration, and a deadline for commitments will be provided. The schedule will also be available on our website.

• Volunteer Commitments:
  Every family is responsible for volunteering at the meets their child participates in. Each family must sign up for an operational role or officiating position for each session their swimmer is involved in.

  • Officials: Officials will be credited $50 per session worked.

  • Families who do not select a shift will be assigned one from the available open spots.

  • A $300 fee will be charged for no-shows, with the credited amount being paid to the volunteer covering the missed shift.

• Meets Hosted by Other Clubs:
  When attending meets hosted by other clubs, each family is required to volunteer for one session per child entered. Responsibilities may include timing or fulfilling other assignments designated by the host team.

  • If more families are present than required, responsibilities will be divided by event.

  • If volunteer numbers are insufficient, a contingency plan will be created after the first timing shift.

Failure to Fulfill Volunteer Responsibilities
Swimmers whose families do not fulfill their volunteer obligations will be scratched from the meet.

Championship Meets
For meets such as CT Championships or Speedo Championships hosted by Bulldog Swimming, all families (regardless of entry) are expected to volunteer for these events. Families can choose from available volunteer options to ensure the smooth running of the meet.
